A brief tutorial on how to use the new scanning system in EVE Online quickly. gives some handy tips on moving probes around and when you can expect to see certain points of the scanning system.
The added benefit of some snappy tunes is just an extra bonus eh?
Anyway this is my first vid so I suspect I’m forgetting something.
I highly recommend you turn captions on if you don’t already leave them on, There have been a lot of updates to the scanning system since the initial release and, I’ve simply learned more, as such I’ve added the knowledge in via the captions.

That rumor is a hold over from the previous scanning system I’m sure. With the old system you couldn’t put probes within scanning range of one another end of story. with this new system however it’s just fine. as KhalesKaplah said, the scanning system uses the 4 strongest signals so by adding extra probes you give a larger pool of probes for the scanning system to choose from for best results.

@Ago566 From information I’ve received from various sides only 4 probes are actually used in triangulation. If you drop 5 pieces, triangulation will only take in account 4 probes with strongrest signal toward any given signal. In essence, you can do with just 4 but that extra one might help you find more and faster.

I’ve been under the impression this whole time that probes placed within each others’ radius will bounce the signal around and “confuse” the probes, causing the signal to be cut in half or something like that. That’s why I’ve always just used 4 probes, and this is the second guide I’ve seen with 5 probes. Do you know something I don’t know, or could it possibly be a mistake adding that center probe?

LOL I was away for the weekend and found that my mining corp had left the WH we were in do to a larger corp coming in to take over.
Well, they left me behind being that I was gone but now I’m stuck in a system of WH being that I jumped out of the one I was in for safety reasons. Lost in space now, this is gonna be fun.

1) a stabber
2) 4 combat scanner probes
3) astrometrics level 3
4) expanded probe launcher 1
i can usually find people in about 4-5 scans and exploration sites in about 3-4

better off getting …
better off getting a covert ops 1st, if ur not satisfied, get some gravity cap rigs (under electronic rigs) there around 5 mil and gives u 10% scan bonus, if it still sucks get sister core probes……and if u cant scan with that, u fail at life

They have a higher scan strength, so if your always having troubles getting your signal strength up to 100% then you might wanna look into buying some if you don’t want to take the time to train the skills.
