Interactive Installation Art –?Examination? Chinese

Posted by admin on February 12th, 2010 and filed under installation art | No Comments »

In todays information explosion and internet era, the creator had realized that modern people require even more capabilities to face competing pressure. ?Examination? is an interacting art which uses a model of the creators head as the interactive interface, and projects 3D animation images of the creator on both sides of the room. When the audience picks up the stethoscope and touches the model, the projected 3D human digital images would appear with IC invasions and brightens, just like having an IC board tattoo marked on the face.
The audience uses a stethoscope as the interaction mechanism, picks up the role as a doctor, and health check the inside feelings of the creator. During the interacting process, the effects such as computers and the internet to the creators mind are diagnosed. The work piece expresses forms of anxiety and haste.

The model is divided into different interacting sense-areas, printed with fortune-telling Chinese characters and scientific symbols which describe the human body parts. As the audience uses the stethoscope to diagnose the characters on the model, it resembles modern people would chose a rather superstitious method, or a medical path to diagnose and relieve self-pressure.
While using the method of an interactive piece to express the creators realization towards information and technology, and from the interaction with the audience, the concept of ?Examination?is presented. This presentation is meant to refer the experience and inside thoughts of modern people.

Which Art Institute of California has a better location?

Posted by admin on February 11th, 2010 and filed under art institute | 2 Comments »

I’m planning on moving to California to go to an art institute to finish my Animation Degree. However, theres quite a few schools and I’m not familiar with the areas. I was thinking San Diego, but San Francisco and Los Angeles are also choices. I like living near cities with lots of culture and places to explore, someplace near the beaches or an artsy area. Anyone with experience living in these areas offer any help?

San Francisco Art Institute of CA is located in South of Market, near the finanical district (downtown). Easier to find a part-tim job while going to school. Area surrounded by stores, clubs, business buildings, corporationsns, ect. Also Lots of rental condos and lofts nearby the school.

Does anyone know where there is a list of Performing Art Colleges/Univeristies online?

Posted by admin on February 11th, 2010 and filed under art colleges | 2 Comments »

Im trying to get a list of Performing art colleges/univeristies online, where the school is strictly Performing Arts, or they have a good reputation for their program. It doesn’t matter if the list is worldwide, US, or Canada, I would greatly appreciate it.

Do you know Dance Spirit Magazine? Every year they come out with a issue that lists all colleges for the Performing Arts in the USA and Canada. You might trie their web site and get a back-issue.
Good luck!

Do you have stories for an art installation?

Posted by admin on February 11th, 2010 and filed under installation art | 1 Comment »

I’m looking for stories for an art installation. The project explores sociology, human nature, storytelling, memory, and interaction. I’d love a city/sTate, but if you’d like to leave everything completely anonymous then I understand. Also, if you leave an e-mail I’d be glad to tell you when you’re story is being used.

Anything & everything is welcome. You can use this to anonymously publicize a confession, a short life story, an experience, whatever.

Thank you in advance!
You can answer them here or e-mail them to "mcadams112489" here or "postyourstories" at gmail

Where do you want me to email it when I’m finished?

Any good online store for modern art work /prints?

Posted by admin on February 11th, 2010 and filed under modern art | 2 Comments »

I am redecorating my dining room and looking for modern, colorful but small art work or prints for my wall…..something different from tea pots and flowers …..Living in a small community, I don’t have access to big stores. Any good online store you can suggest ?

There are a few places I like to go for modern art work:

www.ikea.com: This site is exceptionally european, and the artwork is the like.

www.westelm.com: More contemporary than I’ve seen at a lot of sites. Their furniture is awesome too!

When all else fails, www.art.com has TONS of prints to choose from. You can even have it framed!

These places though, might send you back a few dollars. If you’re looking for cost effective, try making yourself an original! No one else will have what you have, if you do it yourself! Go to an arts supply store, buy stretched canvas in any size you like, and acrylic paints. Acrylic paints usually come in a little plastic bottle, and in a million different colors. Buy a couple of interesting paint brushes, and go to town!!

Lots of luck!
